Reflexology and stress: supporting your nervous system

Chronic stress has become so normalised that many people no longer recognise when their body is operating in a constant state of tension. What may begin as temporary pressure can gradually become the baseline, impacting digestion, sleep, skin health, hormonal balance, mood and energy levels. Reflexology is a complementary therapy that works with specific reflex points on the feet and hands to support the nervous system and encourage the body to shift into the parasympathetic “rest and digest” state — allowing the body to relax, restore and rebalance.

My interest in reflexology also comes from personal experience. While working in a busy 9–5 role and navigating ongoing stress, I began incorporating reflexology into my routine and noticed meaningful changes in my energy, skin health and overall sense of balance, particularly when combined with supportive nutritional and lifestyle changes. In my full article for Therapy Directory, I explore how chronic stress affects the body and how reflexology and nutritional therapy can work together to support nervous system regulation.
